Sandra is a professional public relations consultant who has coordinated the publicity for the national Bushcare’s Major Day Out for the past three years.
This annual day of community participation provides an opportunity for people to spend a fun day in the great outdoors learning about remnant bushland and how to help preserve habitats for threatened species. Participants take part in fun activities such as wildlife encounters, tree planting, weeding, bushwalks, talks and sausage sizzles.
BMDO has grown rapidly since it started in 2008 at a small number of sites in Sydney. In 2015 there were 247 registered sites across Australia including a Northern Territory site for the first time. In 2016 the number of registered sites increased to 289.
